Half a century later, solemn ceremonies have been held in Canberra to mark the occasion and commemorate Vietnam Veterans Day. The ceremonies came as, overseas, last-minute negotiations between Australia and Vietnam led to veterans being granted limited access to the Long Tan memorial site.
