French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Sydney has delivered an important boost to ties between Australia and France. He says his country's main aim is to promote stability in the Indo-Pacific as it faces a new series of changes, including the rise of China. It continues a partnership between the nations that has lasted from the First World War to the modern online battlefields.
