The legendary Australian Nobelist Professor Barry Marshall is deepening his research on Helicobacter pylori, a tummy bacteria that can develop stomach cancer. He is expending his research in China and exploring the hidden function of the bug, helping to reduce allergies, like asthma.
Professor Barry Marshall became the Global Impact Award winner of this year's Advance Awards.
As a Nobelist, Professor Marshall's medical research has truly spread impacts on the global scale. He raised awareness on Helicobacter pylori, a tummy bacteria that can develop stomach cancer in China. He is also running a business which explores the potential of using the bacteria to treat allergies.

Professor Marshall once drank a concoction of the same bacteria to prove it caused stomach ulcers and as a result was named the 2005 Nobel laureate in physiology or medicine along with his colleague Dr Robin Warren.
