Lunar New Year has a history dating back thousands of years and is one of the oldest and most important traditions in the Chinese culture. Melbourne's Chinese Museum is about to launch their new exhibition 'ONE MILLION STORIES' soon after the LNY to showcase the varied, interesting journeys and events of the Chinese community since the first Chinese settler arrived in Australia 200 years ago. Mark Wang, the Deputy Chairman of the Chinese Museum, explains to Yin Wu.
No matter what the country, religion or race, Lunar New Year is a time for family reunions, gatherings and reflection and for reaffirming bonds. It is also the time that Chinese people across the world reflect on their heritage and honor their traditions, customs as well as the rich community culture.
