The 90th Birthday of PLA and China's first overseas naval base

This year marks the 90th birthday of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA). Meanwhile, China opens its first overseas naval base in Djibouti, which is already home to a key US military base and is strategically located at the southern entrance to the Red Sea on the route to the Suez Canal. Mr Xue Xiaoming, the PhD candidate of International Relations from Victoria University of Wellington, urges that current maritime superpower should establish cooperative mechanism with China to prevent potential conflicts.
