Hsuan (Wendy) Chen Womens Singles Queensland Hsuan-Yu Wendy Chen is a badminton player set to make her Olympic debut at the 2016 Rio Olympics representing Australia in the womens singles division. After being born in Taiwan, Wendy is now 23 years old and living in Queensland, Australia. At just 15, Chen came in second at the 2008 Australian Open Championships. Since then, she has had a number of successes. In 2011, Wendy represented Australia at the World Junior Badminton Championships where she made it through to the third round of the 128 player field. In 2012, Chen was chosen to compete in the Australian National Team at the finals of the Uber Cup. She then went on to win both titles of womens singles and doubles in the 2012 Australian title. She also won the womens singles crown at the 2015 X-TRM Oceania in Auckland. More recently, Wendy came first in the 2016 Oceania Champion in the singles event which secured her spot in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Wendy also competed in the 2016 Australian Open, the 2016 SKYCITY New Zealand Open, the 2016 Waikato International, and the 2016 Tahiti Phone International Challenge all in the womens singles events.
