Sydney academic Chongyi Feng, who had been prevented from leaving China, is believed to have been permitted to return to Australia. It is reported that the University of Technology Sydney assistant professor was on his way home and would arrive on Sunday. A critic of Chinas ruling Communist Party, Dr Feng was travelling in China with his wife when he was stopped from boarding a flight to Sydney in Guangzhou last weekend.
