The new Hinterlandt album is called “Seven Tales” and is a song cycle in which Jochen Gutsch gives the detailed and progressive art pop of his band Hinterlandt a poetic touch. In each song he tells a tragic and often somewhat mysterious story, each of which is about a fictional person whose life is symbolically summed up in this one situation. In this broadcast we hear a short conversation with the composer and lyricist about "The Tale of Jeff" and can also play the entire song.
Interpreted by the classically trained singer Nicole “the album is now available on all common digital platforms. We broadcast a longer interview with Jochen about the new album here on SBS in German on August 6th. You can also listen to that on our website. There we discussed his career as a musician and composer of various styles and also two of the 7 Tales, and this new album includes the “Tale of Borges” and the “Tale of Jamira”. The music and all lyrics are written by Jochen Gutsch, and he also plays trumpet, guitar, and glockenspiel on this CD.
