In this episode of Great Minds, experience a deep sense of calm with an ancient meditation technique that originated in India, Yoga Nidra. The name comes from the Sanskrit word ‘nidra’, meaning sleep. Our guide Sagar recommends lying down on a yoga mat and closing your eyes as you listen.

Yoga nidra is an ancient meditation technique that originated in India, part of the broader yoga practice. The origins of yoga can be traced to northern India more than 5,000 years ago.

Yoga Nidra has now spread worldwide. You might have had a short taste at the end of some yoga classes.

The aim of this meditation is to find a state of calm within yourself and enter a sleep like state that leaves you feeling restored.

Our guide for this meditation is Sagar from SOHAM Yoga with Sagar, a not-for-profit group based in Craigieburn, Melbourne. He’s been practicing yoga for over 30 years.
