German Philosopher Dr Hanno Sauer joins SBS Examines to discuss social cohesion, morality and political distrust.
Sauer told SBS Examines that when politicians promise a more equitable and communal society, they inevitably fail, and society starts to feel distrust.
"It seems that a society that feels equal and communal should be possible. Politicians promise it to us. They fail. And so what is going on?
"That can create political paranoia and conspiratorial thinking... and I think that is a very, very dangerous development," he said.
In this episode of SBS Examines Extra, we ask Sauer: How is morality impacting social cohesion? And is aiming for social equality actually fracturing society more?
