  • 'Australia and India share a deep bond – not just economically and strategically,' the PM wrote in his message
On Sunday, Mr Morrison wished the Indian community in Australia and extended his greetings to his ‘good friend’ Narendra Modi and to all those celebrating the festival of colours.

He took to Twitter to praise India for doing a "tremendous job" in making COVID-19 vaccines that, he said, were helping the world to fight the ongoing health crisis.

"India is doing a tremendous job whether as part of our new Quad or more broadly around the world making those vaccines which is helping the broader world," the prime minister said in his video message on Twitter.
Acknowledging the “significant changes” that are still being faced in countries around the world in the wake of the pandemic, including in India," Mr Morrison said: "We will continue to chart our way forward together.”

"That's part of what makes Australia the best place on earth," he said.
It's that unity that gives us strength to prevail against the most difficult of times. So, in that spirit of unity, I wish you all a very Happy Holi - PM
'This year we can lift our eyes and look to the future with confidence'

In a separate message to the Indian-Australian community, Mr Morrison wrote that “Holi is a story with ancient origins –– a timeless festival that draws Indian families and communities together around the world.”

“Last year, the colour, life and enthusiasm of Holi was overshadowed by the pandemic – and celebrations were curtailed. While the pandemic will still shape much of what we do, this year we can lift our eyes and look to the future with confidence.

"Australia and India share a deep bond – not just economically and strategically – but in the very real and warm friendship between our peoples,” he wrote in the message.
