Australia steps up Afghan rescue missions

The Federal Government's Afghan evacuation mission is ramping up, with another larger group of Australians and Afghan visa holders able to escape.


Australia has relied on help from the British with the second airlift.

 

 

 


 

Highlights

  • Afghan nationals who have worked for Australia before are fearing for their life.
  • A total of 76 people were evacuated including Australian citizens and Afghan visa holders, and have been transferred to the Australian base in Al Minhad.
  • The Australian Government commits to give 3,000 humanitarian visas to  Afghan refugees.
