Disney film polarises opinions in Pacific-background communities

"Moana" follows the journey of a princess who teams up with one of Pacific mythology's biggest heroes.

 

But as this report shows, animators are being accused of perpetuating negative stereotypes of Polynesian men by depicting the demigod as overweight.
