Sydneysider cafe owners Margo Flores and Vincent Baquiran's strategy panned out well when they took the time to get to know their community and integrate themselves into Redfern before introducing Filipino cuisine to them.

KEY POINTS
  • Transaction value in the Mobile POS (Point of Sale) payments market is projected to reach US $84.36bn in 2025, based on Statista.
  • Flores and Baquiran acquired an existing cafe in Redfern in 2024 for $100,000 AUD which they eventually rebranded to TAGUAN Cafe (or 'hideaway' in English).
  • According to the owners, their cafe is a space for Filipinos to connect to their roots and for Aussies to explore Pinoy culture through its cuisine.
