Perth-based government contractor Dona Taguinod founded a scholarship program in 2021 championing indigent high-achieving students in Cagayan Valley, Philippines as a way to give back and make a tangible impact.

Key Points
  • According to Statista, Australia is home to over 40 universities, seven of which were placed in the top 100 of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2023.
  • The 'profit for purpose' model guides Taguinod's advocacy through ISA Australia which has a dual mandate of generating financial profit and creating a positive societal return. In practice, this means profits are not solely distributed to shareholders but are reinvested back into supporting her educational mission, specifically via her scholarship program.
  • To sustain the advocacy, commissions are received from the universities where the enrolled students are placed.
It's very important to serve first. When you lead with service, success always follows.
