Survivors of domestic violence join forces to help others starting over

With reports of domestic abuse rising in Australia, survivors of violence have joined forces, delivering 8-million dollars’ worth of goods so far to help those starting over.


Highlights
  • ‘Friends with Dignity’ was founded in 2015 aimed at helping resettle families escaping domestic violence.
  • In Australia, 1 in 3 women have experienced some form of physical violence; 1 in 5 women have experienced sexual violence; and 1 in 2 men will experience physical violence and 1 in 20 will experience sexual violence.
  • First Nations people, people with disability, particularly people with intellectual disability, people who speak another language than English at home, or are maybe on a precarious visa situation, are going to be at higher risk of violence.
