Ayon sa datos patuloy ang pagdami ng mga electric vehicle sa Australia, kung saan isa sa bawat anim na bagong sasakyang naibenta noong Abril 2026 ay EV. Ngunit kasabay ng pagtaas ng benta ay ang mga tanong ng maraming motorista, kaya ba ito ng budget, sapat ba ang charging options, at handa na nga ba ang Australia para sa mas malawak na paggamit ng EV?
How much does an electric vehicle cost in Australia?
Electric vehicles still generally cost more upfront than petrol or diesel cars, although prices have dropped as uptake and choice increase.
Hussein Dia, Professor of Transport Technology and Sustainability at Swinburne University of Technology, says more affordable models are now available.
Mas mataas pa rin ang presyo ng EV kumpara sa mga sasakyang gumagamit ng gasolina o diesel, ngunit habang dumarami ang mga modelong available at tumataas ang demand, nagiging mas abot-kaya na rin ito, ayon kay Professor Hussein Dia, siya ay isang Professor of Transport Technology and Sustainability mula Swinburne University of Technology.
“Three, four years ago, we would struggle to find an EV for less than $50,000. Nowadays they're in the mid-30 range and with government incentives as well, they can be even cheaper.”

Mayroon ding tax discount para sa ilang empleyado sa pamamagitan ng salary packaging at novated leasing, ayon kay Alex Forrest, ang Manager of Vehicles and Fuels at the Royal Automobile Club of Western Australia.
“If you have a novated lease, you can get a discount on the fringe benefits tax. So that can save you quite some thousands of dollars annually over say a five-year lease period...”

Sa pangkalahatan, mas mura ang pag-charge ng electric vehicle o EV sa bahay kaysa sa mga pampublikong charging station. Kaya naman maaaring mas mababa ang matitipid ng mga motoristang madalas umasa sa public charging para sa kanilang sasakyan.
Gaano kalayo ang kayang marating ng electric vehicle sa isang charge?
Ayon kay Professor Hussein Dia, marami na ngayong mga basic EV model na kayang bumiyahe ng humigit-kumulang 400 hanggang 500 kilometro sa isang charge. Gayunman, para sa mga malalayuang biyahe, kailangan pa rin ng maayos na pagpaplano, lalo na pagdating sa mga charging stop sa daan.
“Where they fall short is when you need to travel interstate... especially in regional areas. There are thousands of kilometres without fast chargers.”
