SBS Examines: Epekto ng Islamophobia sa araw-araw na pamumuhay

Ang pangmatagalang epekto ng Islamophobia sa mga biktima ay takot, pagkabahala, at pagkawala ng kaligtasan. Maaari rin itong magdulot ng pag-iisa at kawalan ng tiwala sa komunidad.


Ang Islamophobia ay isang uri ng racism sa pagiging Muslim o ang inaakalang pagiging Muslim.

Ayon kay Dr. Nora Amath, Executive Director ng Islamophobia Register Australia, tumaas ng higit sa 1300 porsyento ang mga ulat ng mga insidente ng Islamophobia mula noong Oktubre 7 ng 2023.

Ngunit sinabi niya na marami pang mga insidente ang hindi naiuulat.

“There are unfortunately some Muslims who believe that this is part of what it means to be Muslim here – to cop it and to deal with the hate."
Ayon kay Dr. Amath, ang Islamophobia ay malungkot na naging bahagi ng pang-araw-araw na buhay ng maraming Muslim sa Australia, partikular na ang mga kababaihan, na bumubuo ng halos 80 porsyento ng mga biktima.

"Every single Muslim female that I've spoken to, and that's 100 per cent, has had an incident, and yet they haven't reported it," aniya.

Hinimok ni Dr. Amath ang mga saksi, biktima, at mga tagasuporta nila na i-report ang anumang insidente ng Islamophobia sa Register.

"We want you to know that it is your right to report it, you don't have to live with this and you don't have to accept this in Australia."

Ang episode na ito ay tumatalakay sa karanasan ng mga taong apektado ng Islamophobia sa Australia.
