Halos kalahati ng mga Australyano — 49% — ang naniniwala na masyadong mataas ang bilang ng mga imigrante.

Ayon ito sa pinakabagong ulat ng Scanlon Foundation na sumusukat sa pagkakaisa ng lipunan sa Australia.

Sabi ni Dr. James O'Donnell mula sa Australian National University, kahit kadalasan positibo ang pananaw natin sa epekto ng migrasyon, naaapektuhan ito kapag may kahirapan sa ekonomiya.

"When people are worried about the economy and when they themselves experience unemployment, financial stress, their attitudes towards migration deteriorate a little bit. They're more likely to say things like migrants increase house prices, or they take away jobs," aniya.
