An inflatable pretzel in front of the door, the scent of warm meatloaf in the room: In a small deli on Sydney's Northern Beaches, two Germans sell local specialities. Many of their customers come not only for bratwurst or German dark bread, but also for the memories associated with them.

It is also the story of two women who originally came and stayed in Australia only for a short time. Today, they run the “German Deli” shop together in the Narrabeen district on Sydney's Northern Beaches — and create a place where people meet, exchange ideas and rediscover a piece of Germany for a moment.

Under the name Brot & Wurst, the small shop was already an important point of contact for the local community. To the delight of customers, it continues as a “German Deli.”
