Australia still in the grip of extreme weather in 2024

Australia has lived up to its reputation as a continent of extreme weather in recent times. Hurricanes and extreme rainfall in the northeast and blistering heat in Western Australia. At the airport in Carnarvon, Western Australia, the thermometer climbed to 49.9 degrees Celsius in February — the highest temperature worldwide so far this year. SBS reporter Barbara Barkhausen looks at the current extreme conditions in the country.
