June 3rd is Mabo Day in Australia. The day commemorates the life of Torres Strait Islander activist Eddie Mabo. According to his daughter Gail, he fought for 15 years to finally win land rights for indigenous people in 1992 in the historic ruling of the High Court of Australia.
