Fiji and Israel are around 16,000 kilometers apart. It's almost 17,000 kilometers to Tonga. Despite this great geographical distance, it is the tiny states in the Pacific that feel a particularly close connection to Israel. This was most recently made clear in the UN resolution passed at the end of October, when some of the countries were among only 14 states that voted against the resolution. My colleague Barbara Barkhausen took a closer look at this exciting topic and the historical stories associated with it.
