Germany - Will they win the World Cup yet again?

Germany has reached the semis at every Euro or World Cup since Joachim „Jogi“ Löw took charge as head coach after Germany finished third at the 2006 World Cup. That's 12 years in a row - a sensational achievement!


Will the 58-year old Löw cement his name in Football nirvana by continuing this fabulous run in Russia? Even take it higher by steering Germany to a consecutive World Cup win?

If so, Germany would only be the second nation to achieve this feat, after Italy (1934 and 38) and Brazil (1958 and 62). But let's not get ahead of ourselves...

In a bid to find out more, SBS host Christian Froelicher invited two German soccer experts in Australia, Bernd Merkel and Anina Woratschek, to our studio.

And this is Germany's preliminary squad, as announced on 15 May - and four of them will be sent home on 4 June:
