A baby wombat has been born at a zoo in Germany for the first time in 40 years.
Duisburg Zoo says the joey called Apari, like all marsupials, was born blind and hardly bigger than a gummy bear at the end of last year.
The wombat's father, Milton, died in December last year aged 22. Zoo staff had believed the marsupial was too old to breed, but weeks after his death baby Apari was born
