Simone Schrunz and Anne Kuhlmann are married and have 3 children. Same-sex marriages are currently legal at national level in 23 states; in Australia since December 2017 and in Germany since October 1, 2017. In other countries, other legal entities exist to recognize these couples, especially in the form of registered partnership. This option was also provided in Germany as a means of recognition before the new legislation.

Simone and Anne explain why it was important for them to be able to officially marry and what the differences to the previous regulations are. For example, there were the same duties but not the same rights. We also talk about how the law has finally changed in Germany - shortly before the elections last fall.

Then, as with the issue of prejudice and discrimination, what we continue in a personal context in the second part of the program.
