Jens Spahn has resigned as chairman of the Union parliamentary group. The background is the debate about the birth of his son by a surrogate mother in the USA. Critics accuse the CDU politician of double standards: While the party rejects surrogacy in Germany, Spahn had supported this position so far. In private, however, acted in the opposite way.
