Record drug-related deaths in Australia

In 2024, Australia recorded the highest number of drug-related deaths since records began. Older people are particularly affected: Almost half of the deaths due to accidental overdoses were between 50 and 59 years old. Experts are urgently calling for more investments in prevention, treatment and damage minimization.
