The idea of the 8-hour working day comes from New Zealand

“Labor Day” is a public holiday in Germany on which workers' rights and social justice are celebrated. While the origins of the workers' struggle lie in Great Britain and the USA, it was workers at the other end of the world in Australia and New Zealand who achieved the first tangible successes.
