A musical monument becomes a movement: With Messa da Requiem, the Queensland Ballet is bringing a ballet version of Giuseppe Verdi's masterpiece to an Australian stage for the first time from the end of March. The choreography is by Christian Spuck, director of the Staatsballett Berlin, who entrusts his work to an Australian company for the first time. Even before he arrives in Brisbane, two close confidants Spucks rehearse the production: Daniel Mulligan and Katja Wünsche. They know his signature exactly — and bring the impressive interplay of music, dance and existential questions to the stage.
