David John Moore Cornwell, better known by his literary pseudonym John Le Carré, was born on October 19, 1931 and was one of the authors who formed the modern approach to espionage novels.
After completing his foreign language studies at the University of Bern in Switzerland, he became a member of the British Army's espionage department, where he initially served as an investigator.

He then became part of the British spy services, MI5 and MI6, where he began writing his first books drawing on his experiences and combining them with fiction.
Among his works are "The Spy Who Came In from the Cold" and "The Constant Gardener" which have been transferred to the big screen.
John le Carre has passed at the age of 89. This terrible year has claimed a literary giant and a humanitarian spirit.
The author has also made references to Greece, more specifically in his work "The Little Drummer Girl" is based on events that are unravelling throughout Greece.
