Carlton midfielder Madison Prespakis has become the first teenager to collect the AFL women's best-and-fairest.
Prespakis managed to collect the maximum three votes in five of Carlton's six regular season matches, polling 15 votes in total followed by Fremantle’s Kiara Bowers in the second place with 12 votes.
The 19-year-old has Greek roots, as her last name suggests, and is of Indigenous Australian origin from her mother’s side who hails from the Djadjawurrung tribe.
Meanwhile, the importance of her win is even greater considering she is the first teenager to score the award.
The last time a male teenager won the award was in 1934.
The top football honour comes just a year after Prespakis was named AFLW’s Rising Star.
"It's definitely been a year that I won't forget, it's been a great two years, and I can't wait to see what's ahead," she told AAP.
