Platypus' numbers, one of Australia's most iconic animals, have been dwindling for the last few decades.

A recent study by the UNSW about the platypus and its future has renewed calls for it to be included to the endangered species lists.
The study was commissioned by the Australian Conservation Foundation.
The study found that since 1990 the worst reductions in platypus numbers has been in New South Wales, with a 32 per cent drop, and Queensland with a 27 per cent drop.
