The events took place last Sunday, 24 May in accordance with coronavirus restrictions on gatherings.

The commemoration service and wreath laying ceremony were conducted under the auspices of the Cretan Association of Canberra and Districts.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a limited number of attendees was allowed, amongst them the association’s president George Katheklakis, Canberra’s Greek community representatives and war veterans, including Battle of Crete veteran, Les Cook.

The event was also livestreamed for those who couldn’t be physically present but wanted to pay tribute to the fallen.
