Scott Morrison's speech on climate at the UN General Assembly has drawn criticism in Australia, from politicians and scientists who argue that the Prime Minister is not taking the issue seriously enough.
During his speech, Mr. Morrison said that Australia's approach to reduce greenhouse emissions is a "credible, fair, responsible and achievable contribution" to address climate change.
The Prime Minister also said that "Australia's internal and global critics on climate change willingly overlook or, perhaps, ignore our achievements, as the facts simply don't fit the narrative that they wish to project about our contribution".
His speech has caused the reaction of Labor leader, Anthony Albanese who stated that the PM is undermining the severity of the issue.
"What we've seen from the Prime Minister is downplaying the seriousness of climate change. What we've also seen is him dismissing the concerns which young people have about climate change. What we've also seen is him blaming the media for reporting the facts.''
