Former Queensland shadow police minister Trevor Watts apologised for having "driveway drinks" with neighbours saying his behaviour “has fallen short of the community's expectations”
According to the state’s Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll, the get together which took place last weekend had “anywhere up to 15 people” attending.
"The police will allege that the outdoor gathering was in fact a street party," Ms Carroll said.
Liberal National Party leader Deb Frecklington accepted Mr Watts’ resignation, but she said he would continue representing Toowoomba North.
