Police investigations continue into the events preceding the four-year-old’s death, with post-mortem examination results indicating “sustained mistreatment”

More than a week ago, Willow Dunn’s body was discovered by emergency services at a Brisbane residence and her father, Mark James Dunn had been charged with murder.

Police have now pressed the same charges against the toddler’s stepmother, 43-year-old Shannon White, who was expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today, Wednesday.

Police allege Willow had already died about two days before her body was discovered, while the post-mortem examination concluded she was experiencing "serious malnourishment" and suffered from health problems indicating "sustained mistreatment".
Queensland police investigations are continuing in collaboration with detectives interstate to establish the facts around Willow’s upbringing and family environment.

"We know that members of Willow's family relocated from Adelaide to Brisbane in 2017 and we believe that there's value in identifying potential witnesses in South Australia,” Acting Detective Inspector Chris Knight said.

The death of Willow, who was understood to have Down syndrome sparked a grief outpouring from the local community and reactions from disability advocates.
