Thousands of Greeks may have to leave Australia when their visa expires, says Greece’s Consul General in Melbourne Dimitiros Michalopoulos.

About 2000 Greeks citizens, who are currently in Australia, may need to return to Greece when their temporary residence visa expires, following the restrictions by the Australian government as a result of the coronavirus measures.

“We assume that the number of our citizens in this category are approximately 2000”, said Greece Consul General in Melbourne, Mr Dimitrios Michalopoulos, in an interview with SBS Greek.

“We recommend to those Greek citizens to consider making the appropriate travel arrangements in case their Visa is not renewed or extended”, said Mr Michalopoulos.
