The Co-CEO of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry Alex Ryvchin, described the Trump Presidency as one of the friendliest that Israel has ever experienced, although he admitted that its faults were contra to the values of the American Jewish community, whilst he foresaw Joe Biden as a longstanding, strong friend of Israel and the American Jews, who will need to guard against the more hostile left-wing of his Democratic Party. A commemoration to mark the 25th anniversary since the tragic assassination of the former Israeli Prime Minister and Nobel Prize for Peace Laurate, Itzhak Rabin e”h, organised by the Zionist Federation Australia was held online, with the participation of his daughter Dalia Rabin and his Israeli former Labour Knesset colleague and close friend Omer Bar Lev. Australia was one of the few countries that abstained or voted against seven anti-Israel resolutions at the UN General Assembly’s Decolonization Committee, which includes all 193 member states. An olive tree symbolising peace and wisdom was planted by representatives of the Victorian Consulate of the United Arab Emirates and representatives of the Australian Jewish community, to celebrate the “Abraham-Ibrahim Accords” signed between the UAE and Israel on the 13th August 2020.
