Grandchildren from two families, whose grandparents saved Jews during WWII in Romania and Lithuania, received the prestigious Righteous Gentiles awards on behalf of their deceased grandparents in a moving ceremony at the St Kilda Synagogue in Melbourne last week.
A state tribute for the late Eddie Jaku, e”h, Holocaust survivor, author and co-founder of the Jewish Museum, was held in Sydney last week, with the participation of dignitaries from the Jewish and broader community, including the Premier of NSW Dominic Perrottet.
The State Government of NSW has followed the Federal Government’s move and become the first State government in Australia to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance working definition of antisemitism.
