Leading Jewish, Victorian, medical experts are again warning unvaccinated members in the Jewish community to get vaccinated, citing the fact that Covid-19 is in the Jewish community and hospitals are predominantly having to save severely ill patients who have not been vaccinated.

Australian Jewish research officer Dr Deborah Burnett, of the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, is the first author on a new paper that looks at targeting vulnerable areas on the Coronavirus’ surface common to different strains, which may lead to better overall vaccines in the future.

A Comparative Study of the Impact of Covid-19 on the Melbourne and Sydney Jewish Communities, by Prof Suzanne Rutland, has proposed that the latter has dealt better with the outbreak than Melbourne because of Sydney’s more centralised system of fundraising, planning and management.

Commemorations of the Kristallnacht pogrom of the 9-10th November 1938 and Remembrance Day 11th November 1918, by Jewish Victorian community organisations, were again marred this year by the continuing threat of Covid-19, especially for elderly Jewish veterans in that state.
