The Police and Parliament of NSW were handed a video of a hate filled rally against Jews and Israel that was organised by the controversial Hizb ut-Tahrir organisation in Sydney in May 2021 during clashes between Israel and Hamas, with Jewish and other groups condemning the threats used and calling for the Islamist group to be placed on the Australian terrorist proscribed organisations’ list.
Victorian Liberal MP Bernie Finn has been strongly criticised by Jewish and non-Jewish MPs for a Facebook post, with a caricature depicting the Victorian Labor Government’s Premier Daniel Andrews as Hitler, following the passing of the Government’s new pandemic powers in that state.
Jewish worshippers at Brisbane’s Margaret Street synagogue were shocked and upset, the previous Saturday, to see a Nazi flag hanging from a window in a high-rise apartment building towering over the synagogue, and whilst the offending flag was taken down by police following complaints from worshippers, there was little they could charge the offender with under the current Queensland incitement laws.
