SBS Yiddish Report with Alex Dafner: Rebbetzin Moskovits, formerly from Sydney and her Rabbi husband in Ukraine town of Kharkiv, currently under heavy Russian bombardment

The Rebbetzin Miriam Moskovits, formerly from Sydney and her Rabbi husband who runs the Chabad Jewish Centre in the Ukraine town of Kharkiv, currently under heavy Russian bombardment, have succeeded to hide, with other Jewish parishioners in the relative safety of the large Kharkiv Choral Synagogue, as supplies and safe means to deliver them are increasingly imperilled.

The Rabbinical Association of Australasia and the JOINT Jewish relief organisation, which raises funds for refugees in Ukraine, held a protest at the Caulfield Synagogue where they heard speakers praise the Ukrainian President and proud Jew Volodymor Zelensky and his condemnation of the bombing of the Babin Yar Holocaust Memorial Center in Kiev, dedicated to the memory of 34 thousand Jews murdered there by the Nazis in 1941.

Dr Moss Cass, a frontbencher in Gough Whitlam’s government, co-founder of Medibank and one of the world’s first environment ministers, among many other achievements, has passed away at the age of 95.
