SBS Yiddish with Alex Dafner: Census 2021 100,000 Australians who identify themselves as Jews, and more news

SBS YIDDISH SEGMENT: 03.07.2022

PREPARED, PRODUCED AND PRESENTED BY ALEX DAFNER

In today’s Yiddish segment Alex Dafner reports on:-

The 2021 Australian Census has somewhat corrected the numbers of Australians who identify themselves as Jews, compared with the 2016 Census, which contained a number of flaws, stating that there are close to 100,000 Australians who identify themselves as Jews, with Victoria having the highest numbers with over 46%, followed by NSW with over 40%.

A case being heard before the Federal Court of Australia against Melbourne’s Brighton College and the State of Victoria, has heard some disturbing evidence by former Jewish students, who allege to have endured violent and virulent antisemitic attacks at the school, without an adequate duty of care and protection from the principal and teachers at the school.
