Alex Dafner reports: The Victorian Education Department is investigating serious accusations of antisemitic attacks and discrimination by students and teachers, allegedly perpetrated against two Jewish brothers at a Victorian Secondary College. A number of Jewish institutions and organizations in Sydney will be the beneficiaries of a $5 million grant to upgrade their security infrastructure, as part of the Federal Governments fifth round of their Safer Communities Funding. As was expected, the lawyers for Malka Leifer, the former principal of the Melbourne Adass-Israel School charged with multiple sexual offences against students at the school, before she fled to Israel in 2008, have filed an appeal with Israel’s high court against the ruling that she is mentally fit to be extradited to stand trial in Australia.
