However, Cricket Australia has assured fans that tens of thousands of tickets are still available.

"Tens of thousands of tickets are available. We appeal to fans not to buy tickets from the scalping sites," said Mr Everad.

Mr Everad said COVID-19 restrictions must be followed all the time and buying tickets off third party websites might hinder the contact tracing measures.

The Indian team will play four test matches against Australia. The first test match will be played in Adelaide from 17 December.

After the iconic Boxing Day test, both teams will travel to Sydney for the third test match starting on 7th January.

The final test match will be played on the Gabba in Brisbane from 15 January.
