In what is considered as a serious mid-air security breach, a passenger on an Indigo flight from Ahmedabad to Goa was found smoking in the plane’s lavatory on December 25th.

The cabin crew aboard flight 6E-947 were alerted when a strong smell of smoke started emanating from one of the plane’s toilets.

The crew immediately informed the aircraft’s captain and questioned the said passenger and warned him about the strict ‘no smoking’ policy while onboard.

In-flight smoking is banned on commercial aircraft and airliners have smoke detectors in lavatories.

The matter was brought to the attention of Goa police after the flight landed safely without any further incidents.

The passenger was later booked and handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force for further interrogation.

This is, however, not the first such incident.
Just last week, a Vistara flight passenger in Delhi caused a three-hour delay for his fellow travellers after he insisted he wanted to smoke in the flight.

The unruly passenger was later removed from the aircraft for failing to comply with the air safety rules.
