“Steered by love, we have begun a new journey together,” tweeted Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah on 15 March to announce his marriage with TV host Sanjana Ganesan.
The couple got married in a traditional Sikh wedding at a gurdwara (Sikh temple).
The Board of Cricket Control in India granted 27-year-old Bumrah leave from the ongoing cricket series against England for his marriage. However, the celebrity couple kept their wedding a secret and shared pictures on social media only after the ceremony.
Former Cricketers VVS Laxman, K Srikkanth, Irfan Pathan, Vinod Kambli and Sachin Tendulkar were among those who posted congratulatory messages for the newly wed couple on Twitter.
“May this journey of togetherness bring growth, success and happy memories in your life,” tweeted Sachin Tendulkar.
VVS Laxman said, “Best wishes to both of you on this wonderful journey, as you build your new lives together and may the years ahead be filled with lasting joy.”
Bumrah made his international debut for India in 2016. He has so far played 19 Tests, 67 ODIs and 50 T-20 matches.
Sanjana Ganesan is a TV presenter, who hosts live and recorded shows during international cricket tournaments such as the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, the IPL and Team India's other matches.
