The Business and Skilled Migration Queensland (BSMQ) on Monday announced that they will not be issuing any more invitations for Expression Of Interest (EOIs) lodged on or after 27 November 2017 for the below occupations:

  • 132211 Finance Manager
  • 141111 Cafe or Restaurant Manager – visa subclass 190 (still available for the visa subclass 489).
The state government has taken this decision due to a high numbers of EOIs already sent out.
The temporary suspension of issuing EOIs for these occupations comes a month after Queensland stopped accepting interstate applications for state nomination visas - subclass 190 & subclass 489 from October 25th 2017.

In October, Queensland's official website announced interstate applicants were no longer able to apply for Queensland state nomination.

For those who are currently interstate and would like to apply for state nomination, they need to meet Working in Queensland or Alumni pathway criteria.

This would require the prospective applicant to move to Queensland and meet any working requirements before submitting an Expression of Interest to BSMQ.
