On the opening day of the first test match against England at the Edgbaston cricket ground in Birmingham on Wednesday, Indian skipper Virat Kohli mocked English batsman Joe Root’s dismissal with a controversial send-off.
England was on 216 for three wickets when Kohli's direct throw at the stumps sent Root packing for 80 runs.
Kohli was seen celebrating by mocking Root by blowing kisses in his direction and putting his finger to his lips. He also mimicked his 'mic drop' celebration and appeared to be swearing.
Kohli’s mic-drop comes after Root’s own mic drop gesture where he celebrated the one-day series win against India two weeks ago.
On Wednesday, England appeared fairly in control in their first-innings when Root and Jonny Bairstow shared a fourth-wicket stand of 104 runs.
However, Root's run out sparked an England collapse. England was reduced to 285 for nine in what is their 1000th Test.
About the mic-drop gesture, England's Keaton Jennings later said: "Everybody is entitled to celebrate how they want to.
"He (Kohli) celebrated, and that's cool," the opening batsman added.
However, it became a talking point on Twitter for a while.
